About
Rudra Singh Tamang is Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Government of Nepal, one of the most senior positions in the country's civil service. He was promoted to Secretary in 2083 BS (2026), after more than twenty-one years in the Nepal Administrative Service. He is from Thaprek in Nuwakot district, Bagmati Province.
He joined the service in 2061 BS (2005) as a Tax Officer at the Inland Revenue Office in Bharatpur, Chitwan, and later served at the Inland Revenue Office in Kathmandu. As Under Secretary he worked at the National Planning Commission Secretariat and the Ministry of Local Development, then served as Local Development Officer in Dhading and in his home district of Nuwakot.
Since his promotion to Joint Secretary in 2071 BS (2015), he has worked at Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, led the Department of Tourism as Director General, and served as Province Secretary at Bagmati Province's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law. He went on to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Department of Immigration, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
Alongside his public service, he is pursuing a PhD at Tribhuvan University, building on master's degrees in Public Administration and Sociology.
